Camber Property Group has launched Victory Plaza, a 136-unit fully affordable property in New York City’s Central Harlem neighborhood. The nine-story building offers 81 apartments for low income seniors, the remaining 55 catering to formerly homeless seniors.
Camber partnered with Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement Inc. (HCCI), the New York City Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) and the New York City Housing Development Corp. (HDC) on the $65 million project. Victory Plaza will support vulnerable seniors to remain within the city, as they recover from pandemic-induced difficulties, said Rick Gropper, principal & co-founder of Camber Property Group.
Located at 11 W. 118th St., the site near Marcus Garvey Park is two blocks from the 116 Street subway station and less than a mile from Central Park.
Designed by Aufgang Architects, the project received financing from HDC, HPD and Wells Fargo. HCCI will provide on-site social services. Common-area amenities include a community space, a fitness center, laundry facilities, outdoor relaxation area and bicycle parking.
Camber’s recent achievements included the opening of the 126-unit affordable Tiffany Street Apartments in the Bronx, as well as securing $50 million in financing for a supportive housing development located in the same neighborhood, at 913 E. Tremont Ave. The company partnered with Westhab for the development of the latter, designated for formerly homeless and low-income individuals.
