BRP Completes Long Island Community

BRP Cos. has finished construction of The Arboretum at Farmingdale, a new 292-unit garden-style apartment community located in Brookhaven, N.Y. Located at 20 Maple Lane on Long Island’s East End, the Arboretum at Farmingdale spans 491,000 square feet, and includes a seven-acre public park.
BRP Companies acquired the property in 2020, breaking ground in mid-summer 2022. “A major challenge we faced was closing on the site in April 2020, right at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Meredith Marshall, co-founder and managing partner of BRP told Multi-Housing News.
Features and finishes
Arboretum at Farmingdale ‘s unit mix includes 82-two-bedroom flats, 82 lofts, 63 two-bedroom apartments,14 three-bedroom townhomes and 51 three-bedroom single-family houses. 30 units within the community are earmarked for workforce housing. Monthly rents range from a low of $3,495 for two-bedroom apartments to a high of $4,450 for three-bedroom townhomes and $5,350 for three-bedroom detached single-family houses.
Unit interiors at The Arboretum at Farmingdale include in-unit washer-dryers, energy-efficient stainless-steel appliances and, in select homes, fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, balconies and loft spaces. The community’s common-area amenity package features a fitness center with on-demand classes and yoga rooms, resort-style pool and cabana, clubhouse with entertainment kitchen and courts for tennis, pickleball and bocce.

Additional amenities include a playground, dog run with pet wash stations, a putting green and a business center with conference rooms. The publicly-accessible park features nature paths, walking trails and picnic areas open to residents and the public. Situated in a 62-acre park-like area, the Arboretum at Farmingdale is situated several miles from multiple primary medical facilities. They include Stony Brook University and Hospital and the Brookhaven National Laboratory. The community is accessible to both the Long Island Expressway and Nicolls Road.
Long Island remains a strong prospect for developers seeking to combine a suburban feel with strong local employers.
