Boston’s Hood Business Park Lands Residential Community

The mixed-use project at 480 Rutherford Ave. will include 177 residential units, 10,500 square feet of retail and roughly 90 parking spaces.

BostonThe Boston Planning and Development Agency recently approved 480 Rutherford St., a mixed-use project in Boston’s Charlestown area. The development will be situated on the site of the former Hood Dairy Plant, within Planned Development Area No. 51. The owner of the project is Massachusetts-based Hood Park LLC.

Situated at the southeast corner of the Hood Business Park complex, the six-story development will include 177 residential units, 10,500 square feet of ground-floor retail and roughly 90 parking spaces. The project has an estimated cost of $45 million, is expected to generate 124 construction jobs and is slated for completion in 2019.

The development, which will have a gross floor area of 162,231 square feet, will offer 67 studios, 81 one- and 29 two-bedroom units.

The project team also includes CBT Architects, R.W. Sullivan Engineering and McNamara/Salvia Inc., as well as Cambridge-based Symmes Maini McKee Associates Inc. as landscape architect.
