Boston Adds Affordable Veterans Housing
The 69-unit Bedford Green community is reserved for low- and very low-income veterans age 55 and above.

Bedford, Mass.—Bedford Green, a 69-unit supportive housing community in Bedford, officially opened last week.
Reserved for low- and extremely low-income veterans aged 55 or above, the property was designed by The Architectural Team for the Massachusetts Veteran Administration and offers priority occupancy to homeless and at-risk veterans. The location is guaranteed to remain affordable for at least 30 years, with all units having Section 8 Project-based assistance.
Situated at 200 Springs Road on the campus of Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, the affordable community is neighbored by the Wilderness Park to the north and the Patriot Golf Course to the south. Developed by Affordable Housing and Services Collaborative LLC, Peabody Properties Inc. and Windover Construction LLC, the property sits on a 4-acre lot.
Designed for LEED Gold certification, Bedford Green offers—in addition to permanent housing—supportive services including on-site medical, clinical and well-being assistance. Amenities include a fitness center and community room, on-site computer center and training, case managers, as well as on-site management and maintenance staff.
According to the Regional Housing Services Office, Bedford has 974 affordable units, which account for 18.3 percent of the total stock.
