Covington, La.—Avanti Senior Living has unveiled plans for a new seniors housing development, Avanti Senior Living at Covington, which will provide 60 assisted living units and 50 memory care units. The property will be off Oschner Boulevard in the Water Cross at Nor du Lac in Covington, La.

Avanti plans to break ground on the new property in the first quarter of next year. Earlier this year, the company announced plans to build similar properties in Baton Rouge and Lafayette, La. Lori Juneau-Alford, COO of Avanti Senior Living, grew up in Louisiana, where she still has family ties. Covington is located in St. Tammany Parish across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans.

The development will evoke the large manor houses of an earlier time, according to Avanti Senior Living. Natural light will be optimized throughout the property by incorporating a variety of windows, and artwork by local artists will bring texture to the interior design. Avanti has partnered with Milton Womack Inc., a contractor in Baton Rouge, to oversee the construction of the community.

The development will be part of a healthcare campus that will include Ochsner Health Center, a wellness center, professional medical offices, a skilled nursing facility and luxury apartments. Avanti Senior Living at Covington will be close to a number of major medical centers, including St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Regency Hospital of Covington and Lakeview Regional Medical Center.

Avanti, based in The Woodlands, Texas, was launched in 2013, and has opened a number of properties since then. Its first was located in Texas, and then the aforementioned properties were acquired in Lafayette and Baton Rouge, La. The company’s Texas holdings are in greater Houston, San Antonio and Dallas.
