AHEPA Opens New Houston Seniors Apartments
Owners, sponsors and supporting entities of the new Penelope 54-II affordable seniors apartment building in Houston recently held a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new community.

Houston—Owners, sponsors and supporting entities of the new Penelope 54-II affordable seniors apartment building in Houston recently held a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new community.
The three-story building adds 45 new affordable seniors apartments to the local market and apartments are available to residents 62 years old and up, and who meet income guidelines. Penelope 54-II apartments is located at 8113 Creekbend Drive in Houston and is owned by AHEPA DOP 54 Phase II, Inc., with sponsorship from AHEPA National Housing Corporation and support from the local Achaia Chapter #54, Daughters of Penelope, Houston.
AHEPA National Housing Corporation was established in 1983 is a developer of Housing and Urban Development-subsidized Section 202 housing for low income disabled and elderly ages 62 and up. The company, based in Fishers, Ind., is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that serves nearly 5,000 seniors in 22 states across the United States. The property management arm of the compay, AHEPA Management Company, was established in 1991 and provides on-site management to 90 properties nationwide.
The ceremony kicked off with a welcome from Dedication Committee Co-chairs Barbara Maligas and Niki Vaughn, followed shortly by an opening prayer delivered by Rev. Father Demetrios Tagaropulos of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral.

Additional remarks were made by City of Houston Council Member Larry A. Green; AHEPA Management Company CEO and President Arthur Poly; Manousso Meditation Training and ADR Services CEO Dr. Barbara Manousso; AHEPA National Housing Corporation Chairman of the Board Nickolas M. Stratas; and Daughters of Penelope Grand President Anna-Helene Grossomanides. Other speakers at the celebration included Dr. Edward L. Pringle, field office director region VI of HUD, as well as AHEPA National Housing Corporation President Angelo Kostarides.
The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by a reception.
