Affordable Housing Project Breaks Ground in Oregon
Developer BRIDGE Housing has started work on 61 apartments for low-income families in north and northeast Portland. The property will accept Section 8 vouchers.
Developer BRIDGE Housing and its partners broke ground on an affordable housing project in Portland, Ore., dubbed North Williams. The property is set to feature 61 apartments that will serve very low- and low-income families. COLAS Construction Inc. is the general contractor of the project and Ankrom Moisan Architects Inc. is the architect.
(In February, BRIDGE Housing topped out a 203-unit affordable housing development also in Portland, Ore.)
Located at 2156 N. Williams Ave., North Williams will provide easy access to Interstate 5, with downtown Portland within 4 miles of the property. A mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments will be available upon completion, with priority given to displaced residents or those at risk. Forty units will come with Section 8 vouchers. Plans call for individual stoops for ground-floor units, a community room, laundry facilities, a play area and several gathering spaces.
Portland Housing Bureau, Oregon Housing and Community Services, Home Forward, Multnomah County, Barings Multifamily Capital, U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corp., U.S. Bank National Association, Metro, City of Portland Bureau of Environmental Services, EPA, Meyer Memorial Trust and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development are among the financial partners of the development.
