Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Trimble, a provider of advanced location-based solutions, broke ground on its new Rockies campus in Westminster, Colo. Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, CIO-Secretary of Technology Kristin Russell, Jefferson County Commissioners Faye Griffin and John Odom and Westminster Mayor Nancy McNally attended the ceremony.

Trimble started off with 43 employees at its initial Colorado location back in 2000, occupying 29,000 square feet at the Church Ranch Office Center in Westminster. At the moment, the company leases around 98,000 square feet in Westminster’s Westmoor Technology Park with over 400 employees.

The new 125,000-square-foot Rockies campus is being built on 15 acres of land at 10368 Westmoor Dr. The planned 4-story building will house existing employees, with space to accommodate up to 570 employees.

The general contractor for the project is JE Dunn Construction of Denver. Cresa Partners served as the real estate broker, while OZ Architecture came up with the design for the building. The campus is expected to be completed in May 2013, and the overall project is pursuing LEED Gold certification.

In other local news, the Denver Business Journal reports that JRK Property Holdings has acquired the Briargate on Main, a 325-unit apartment complex in Parker. Located at 18931 E. Briargate Lane, the complex was built in 2003 and, at the time of the sale, was 93 percent occupied.

The property was acquired from Colony Realty Partners LP of Boston for an undisclosed amount. Colony was represented by Doug Andrews, Jeff Hawks, Shane Ozment and Terrance Hunt of Apartment Realty Advisors.
