Bordentown, N.J.—Sterling Properties has begun construction on Rivergate, a four-building, transit-oriented community with 159 rental residences, which is situated along the Delaware River waterfront in Bordentown, N.J.

“There is a high demand in South Jersey for luxury rentals, specifically for transit-oriented communities that allow residents to live a more convenient lifestyle,” Wayne Zuckerman, Sterling Properties’ co-principal, tells MHN. “With an on-site River Line light rail station, Rivergate will be ideal for renters who work in Trenton, Philadelphia and New York. Furthermore, Rivergate will boast the type of high-end finishes and features that are typically reserved for for-sale communities. In other words, it is rare to find this type of luxury in a rental community.”

Rivergate will feature an impressive array of amenities including elevator access, private parking, an outdoor resort-style swimming pool and an exclusive community clubhouse with a state-of-the-art fitness studio.

“Sterling has always been dedicated to building residences that we ourselves would be proud to call home. Rivergate is no exception,” Zuckerman says. “The attention-to-detail in the design is unparalleled, and the amenities package is also second-to-none.”

The development is part of Bordentown’s Waterfront Community Development, which consists of a 98-acre former shipyard site along Route 130 transformed into a transit village anchored by the new River Line Train station and a mix of more than 600 apartments, townhouses and affordable housing units.

In addition to the on-site light rail station, the Waterfront Community Development plan also calls for the creation of shops and restaurants, multiple recreations areas, a swimming pool, a waterfront boardwalk, and walking and biking trails.

Located across the river from the entertainment, dining and cultural offerings of Philadelphia, Bordentown itself boasts a lively downtown of boutiques, restaurants, cafes and galleries. For shoppers, there are various retail options located on Route 130, including three regional malls located within a 20-minute drive.

“Rivergate will embrace the rich history of Bordentown while also paying mind to a traditional lifestyle and the contemporary conveniences that today’s renters seek,” Zuckerman says. “Today’s renters gravitate towards transit-oriented communities that offer a live-work-play lifestyle. Rivergate and the larger Waterfront Community Development is a great example of the kind of smart development that Sterling wants to bring to the people of the tri-state area.”
