Atlanta—Work is under way on 33 Peachtree Place, a $100 million residential and retail property on West Peachtree St. in Midtown Atlanta. The project will include a high-rise and a mid-rise apartment building with a total of 369 units, along with 20,000 square feet of base-level retail space.

According to the developer, Wood Partners, 33 Peachtree Place will provide needed residences in Midtown, where job growth has outstripped housing supply. Midtown’s population—a mix of students, academics, artists and upscale professionals—grew 105 percent during the 2000s, from 17,000 in 2000 to 35,000 in 2010, and the area is projected to gain another 17,000 residents by 2016.

The property will include 39 studios, 196 one-bedroom units, 129 two-bedroom units and five top-level penthouse suites. Construction on 33 Peachtree Place is slated for completion by the third quarter of 2016.

Balfour Beatty Construction, GC for the property, is building the structure on four acres at Peachtree Pl. and West Peachtree St. that until recently was a parking lot for the 10 Peachtree Place building, the office tower for Atlanta Gas Light. Upon completion, 33 Peachtree Place will be Atlanta’s first to utilize natural gas for heating, cooling, water and cooking.

In addition to skyline views and a dog-friendly resident park, amenities will include a resort-style pool deck, club rooms and more than 500 parking spaces. Architecture and interior design firm Rule Joy Trammell Rubio designed units to include such finishes as stainless steel appliances and quartz countertops.
