Vista Realty Partners, in a partnership with Batson-Cook Development Co., has broken ground on Sweetwater Vista, a 300-unit garden-style, workforce housing community in Douglasville, Ga. Synovus Bank provided some $26 million to finance the development, according to public records. The project is slated for completion by the end of 2021.

Sweetwater Vista will occupy 51.3 acres near the intersection of Riverside Parkway and Commerce Way, adjacent to Sweetwater Creek State Park. The community will also provide access to interstates 20 and 285 and will be close to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and downtown Atlanta.

The development will encompass nine three-story residential buildings designed to meet the needs of the growing middle-class population, according to Vista Realty Partners’ CIO Michael Neyhart. Amenities will include a clubhouse and lounge, fitness and yoga center, pool, open space and nature trails.

The joint venture will work together with contractor Flournoy Construction and architect Niles Bolton Associates. Batson-Cook Development Co. has also recently partnered with Red Clay Development Partners and Atlantic Residential to bring a 300-unit workforce housing to Orlando, Fla.
