Village Green Restores 1920s Skyscraper and Converts it to Luxury Apartments

Village Green’s newest property, Randolph Tower City, is 35 percent leased already, and the first residents don’t even move in until later in the month.

Chicago—Village Green’s newest property, Randolph Tower City, is 35 percent leased already, and the first residents don’t even move in until later in the month. Until then, the privately held developer and manager of luxury apartments will continue to restore the building, with completion slated for the fourth quarter of 2012.

The Chicago-based community, which is located in the Loop and Theatre District, will be a mixed-used building that includes 312 apartments. Units will include studios, convertibles, one- and two-bedroom apartments and penthouses.

Building amenities include a private movie theater, gourmet kitchen, fitness center, business center, conference room, and Olympic-size pool.

Apartments in Randolph Tower City will feature hardwood floors, individually controlled heating and cooling systems, walk-in closets and in-unit washers and dryers.

The building was originally constructed in 1928 and was called the Steuben Club, which became one of Chicago’s distinctive skyscrapers in the ‘20s.

“As Chicago responds to Randolph Tower City’s unmatched combination of location, services, amenities and green approach to historic renovation, we are utilizing the knowledge for inspiration into new City projects under development with a renter-centric focus and an eye to innovation,” Jonathon Holtzman, Village Green CEO, says in a press statement.
