Home automation startup SmartRent has released the Alloy Fusion hub, a wall-mounted touchscreen unit that enables renters to control their in-home smart devices.

The unit combines the functions of a thermostat, video intercom, security panel and other features, allowing residents to lower shades, change the temperature, lock or unlock their door, or even let someone into the building through a simple interface. The hub, which connects with Z-Wave smart devices, also enables residents to take video calls from guests or delivery people.

SmartRent has also introduced a self-guided tours feature aimed at making life easier for multifamily owners and managers. The web-based tour program allows prospective renters to view properties online, go through the pre-qualification and ID verification process and receive access for their self-guided tour.
