The Banks’ Newest M-F Project Gets a Name

The developers of The Banks have recently revealed the name of the second apartment building to be constructed at the mixed-use development. Radius, as the new complex is called, is part of the larger project’s second phase.

According to Malloy Peterson, Senior Vice President at Carter, the “Radius” refers to the diverse amenities that surround the site of the new community, such as the Ohio River or the 40-acre playground of Riverfront Park. Radius, which is part of The Banks’second phase, is under construction. Once finished, it will have nine stories and 291 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments.

Carter also said that North Carolina-based Bell Partners Inc., one of the largest apartment operators in the U.S., will manage Radius. Bell will also manage Current at The Banks, a 300-unit apartment community that opened in 2010 as part of The Banks’ first phase. Pre-leasing for the Radius is scheduled to start in August.

The Banks’ $67 million second phase is expected to be completed in early 2016. In addition to its residential component, Phase II calls for 20,000 square feet of retail and a 338,000-square-foot office building that will serve as General Electric’s new U.S. Global Operations Center.

The Banks is located on the Ohio River between Paul Brown Stadium, the National Underground Freedom Center and Great American Ball Park. Once finished, it will include 1,800 units, 400 hotel guest rooms, 1 million square feet of office space and more than 400,000 square feet of retail.
