Stronger Windows Protect Against Coastal Storms
- Jan 02, 2020
Andersen Corp. offers a series of windows and patio doors made of a proprietary composite material that is twice as strong and rigid as vinyl. The company’s 100 Series windows and doors, featuring a PVC-wood composite called Fibrex, are offered in a variety of dark colors with durable, low-maintenance finishes. Fibrex can withstand temperatures of up to 150 degrees and has a finish 12 times thicker than painted vinyl.
For coastal regions where stormy weather is a concern, Andersen offers a performance upgrade with hidden structural reinforcements. The Performance Grade (PG) 50 upgrade allows the windows to achieve higher design pressures while maintaining a clean appearance. The energy-efficient windows come in awning, casement, gliding, picture, single-hung and specialty formats, while the door is available as a gliding patio door.
