Starwood Brings Successful Hospitality Brand to DTLA

Los Angeles is finally getting a W, and this is in no way linked to the Lakers. Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. along with Shenzen Hazens Real Estate Group Co. Ltd announced an agreement to bring the W brand to the city’s downtown. The new facility, known as the W Los Angeles Downtown, is scheduled to open in early 2019.

Slated to be part of a large mixed-use development that will take shape in the immediate proximity of downtown’s L.A. LIVE complex, the hotel will feature design flourishes and amenities that are specific to the brand. The new facility will be located at the corner of St. Figueroa and 11th Street, and will be developed during the first phase of the mixed-use project.

W Los Angeles Downtown is a 250-key hospitality facility that will offer residents an amenity package that includes a 5,000-squre-foot spa, a 2,500-square-foot outdoor wet pool deck, as well as W Hotels the Store. 15,300 square feet of space will be designated as state-of-the-art meeting and event space. As W Hotels Global Brand Leader, Anthony Ingham puts it, “the time is right for a W Hotel in the heart of Downtown LA.”

The greater development that will include the new W will consist of three towers. Aside from the 250-key hotel, the project is set to include 650 residential condo units, 80,000 square feet of retail and dining that will further bolster DTLA’s entertainment district.
