Shorenstein’s Center Plaza Welcomes Fast-Growing Tech Company

As Boston’s tech scene is sizzling with activity, companies are looking for bigger offices to call home.

As if to strengthen Boston’s position as one of the country’s growing tech centers, a life cycle engagement platform for web and mobile apps will triple its footprint in the city.

Localytics has decided to leave its 18,000-square-foot offices at 101 Arch St. and move into a bigger home at Center Plaza, directly across from City Hall Plaza. The tech company received a helping hand from Shorenstein Properties, a privately-owned real estate firm that owns and manages Class A office properties across the U.S.

Starting in March of 2016, the company will occupy 55,000 square feet of prime office space in Shorenstein’s 717,128 mixed-use complex that’s situated at 2 Center Plaza, at the intersection of Beacon, Cambridge and Somerset streets.  As reported by the Boston Business Journal, Localytics’ planned relocation is the result of the company’s exponential growth since its start operating in a co-working space in Cambridge in 2009. The tech company has 250 employees. Only 180 of them are located in Boston, while the remainder are based in San Francisco and London. Localytics’ new home could accommodate approximately 750 employees.

Shorenstein was represented by CBRE/New England’s team led by Andy Hoar, John Butterworth, Kevin Kennedy, and Suzanne Brown. Meanwhile, T3 Advisors’ team led by Greg Hoffmeister and Jon Frisch negotiated the lease on behalf of Localytics.

“Center Plaza’s characteristics present an attractive option for leading technology firms in search of quality office space in the downtown market,” commented Kevin Kennedy, first vice president with CBRE/New England.

Shorenstein has selected Boston-based CBT Architects to design a capital improvement project at Center Plaza. The upgrades will include new office amenities such as a bike room and conference center, as well as renovations to the street-level interior lobbies, exterior walkway/breezeway areas, and rooftop.
