A Reef as an Amenity?
- Sep 28, 2015
Wauwatosa, Wis.—The REEF APT, a new multifamily rental property in the western Milwaukee suburb of Wauwatosa, Wis., will officially open on Friday, October 2. The announcement was made by the property’s developer, Wangard Partners Inc., a Milwaukee-based developer of commercial and residential properties.
The 180-unit community will feature as its centerpiece four 18-unit buildings with central garages. Two bookend four-story L-shaped buildings are situated on the outer edges of the property. The result is a private, walkable neighborhood on a linear parcel in the heart of metropolitan Milwaukee, Wangard Partners reported.
The REEF APT features a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units in buildings that are characterized by an urban aesthetic and contemporary architectural styling.
The development also features a number of attractive amenities. Among them are a 24-hour fitness center and a clubhouse with fully-equipped gourmet kitchen, dual-sided fireplace and pool. A concierge service is available for dry cleaning and package delivery. The property’s most distinctive amenity also serves as inspiration for the community’s name. That is the Schoonmaker Reef, which is located just beyond the community’s northwestern edge.
An ancient coral reef, the Schoonmaker Reef was the first fossil reef identified in the United States and provides visitors with dramatic panoramic views that change with the seasons. Discovered in 1844, the reef has yielded more than 200 marine and fauna fossils.
Apartments feature an array of attractive features and finishes. They include plank flooring in kitchen, entry and living areas; 9-foot ceilings; energy-efficient windows; granite countertops; warm wood cabinets with slow-close drawers; Energy Star appliance package; full-size, front-loading washers and dryers; spacious walk-in closets; and depending on floor plan, private balconies or patios.
Perched on Milwaukee’s western edge, just five miles west of downtown Milwaukee, Wauwatosa is one of the fastest-growing communities in Wisconsin.
The village will provide residents of The REEF APT vibrant cultural and recreational opportunities, as well as a quaint and inviting commercial district filled with restaurants and retailers.
The setting not only offers a quick, 15-minute commute to downtown Milwaukee, but access to many amenities in and around the west side of Wisconsin‘s largest city. These include, among others, Washington Park, Doyne Park Golf Course and Miller Park, home of baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers.
“We have taken what was considered a forgotten and challenging site and turned it into a remarkable, private neighborhood,” said Stewart Wangard, CEO, Wangard Partners.
