“Smart” home technology is revolutionizing operations and security at multifamily communities with innovative features that allow managers and residents to tailor their property to their needs. One of the newest introductions to the smart home technology market is Schlage Control’s™ Smart Interconnected Locks, which can be remotely controlled by facility staff or residents via a cloud-based mobile or web app. The system can control both residence and common area doors with its software platform.
“With the innovative Schlage Control™ Interconnected Locks and our enhanced credentials, we are ushering in a new era of convenience and security for multi-family property owners and residents,” said Ann Matheis, marketing leader, multifamily for Allegion, Schlage’s parent brand. “We have streamlined property operations for property owners, eliminating the hassle and cost of managing keys, while also maximizing ROI and upgrading the property visual appeal with the ability for residents to use their smartphones as their keys.”
Residents will appreciate the no-key approach, and they can use their smartphones or a small key fob to access their unit. It also offers complete protection against lock-picking or forced entry. The lock’s Builders’ Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) Grade 2 certification ensures that it can withstand excessive force like kicks, sledge hammer or crowbar attacks.
For staff, having remote control for all common doors can increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Temporary access can also be granted for vendors, with the ability to specify start and stop dates and times for maximum security, as well as view past activity, time zones and audit trails. The software platform also allows for third-party software additions in order to conduct a wide variety of facility upkeep tasks.
