Officials from The Pizzuti Companies and Memorial Hospital of Union County broke ground Nov. 14 on a 35,000-square-foot medical office building in Marysville. The project was announced earlier this year.
Scheduled for completion next fall, the two-story facility will be located at 120 Coleman’s Crossing Blvd. in City Gate, Connolly Construction Co.’s mixed-use development. Memorial Hospital said it identified the site several years ago as the preferred location for its expansion. Pizzuti, which acquired the site from Connolly, will lease the entire building to Memorial Hospital.
Hospital officials expect the new building to handle 50,000 patient visits per year. It will be accessible via Routes 33 and 36. Available services will range from urgent care, imaging services, and physical therapy to sports medicine.
Bill Andrews of Andrews Architect is the project’s designer. He predicted that the building would be “unique, unlike anything in Columbus.” When the project was first announced, it was expected to cost $7.5 million. However, Columbus Business First recently reported that the project will cost $9.5 million.
“We are extremely pleased to assist Memorial Hospital of Union County in developing a well-located medical building that will provide integrated, convenient healthcare services to the Marysville community,” said Jim Miller, executive vice president of The Pizzuti Companies, in a statement. “When complete, this new facility will provide a patient-centered environment that is among the finest in Central Ohio.”
