Philly Community Joins Local Animal Welfare Society for ‘Doggie Fashion Show’ Fund Raiser

By Rachel Block, ReporterPhiladelphia–The Residences at Dockside, a pet-friendly community located in Philadelphia, has joined the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) for an event, in an effort to assist in helping homeless and abandoned animals find placement in decent homes.”The Residences at Dockside has been a pet-friendly community from thebeginning,” says Victoria Teschner, director of marketing and sales for the project. “We decided we wanted to do something meaningful, but fun, which is why we chose the doggie fashion show. We were able to raise awareness, raise funds to help support PAWS in its efforts, and even help a few animals find a good home that day.”To help benefit PAWS and contribute to their strong efforts, The Residences at Dockside, developed by the DePaul Group, put together their second annual pet-friendly fashion show. The dogs were the center of attention, being part of both a beauty pageant and fashion show. During the pageant, they were walked down the runway, opting for a chance to win a new spring wardrobe and dinner at Tavern 17, one of the area’s pet-friendly restaurants. PAWS dogs were also given the opportunity to show off the newest fashions from Chic Petique and Rittenhouse Pet Supply. Pet caricature drawings and training lessons from the “Dog Dude,” a Philadelphia dog trainer, was among some of the other activities at the event.Gala Functions contributed as well, by providing an array of brunch foods, and St. Germain gave out complimentary mimosas.”Our event was even bigger and better than last year,” Teschner says. “We had about 85 people in attendance, many of whom brought their four-legged pals to enjoy all the fun doggie activities!”
