New VA Apartments Feature Unique Fitness Equipment

Belvoir Square Apartments, a 282-unit apartment development just outside Fort Belvoir’s Tulley Gate, has opened. The property, which offers studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, and which will largely be occupied by service members considering its location near a major Army base, was developed by Chesapeake Realty Partners.
The developers put a strong emphasis on fitness-oriented amenities at the property. Belvoir Square offers professional-quality health and wellness amenities—both indoors and out—for extreme athletes and power lifters, but also yoga devotees, runners and walkers.
“Our indoor and outdoor fitness facilities offer respite for active mid-career professionals,” said Josh Fidler, co-chairman of developer Chesapeake Realty Partners. “The equipment and personalization is like nothing else in the area, and in some cases, nowhere else in the U.S.”
For instance, the property has the nation’s only MyEquilibria outdoor gym, imported from Italy. Nicknamed “the fitness tree” for its appearance, the equipment is the centerpiece of the outdoor Fitness Park, which offers a place for year-round open-air workout, including calisthenics and free-body weight training.
While the “tree” itself isn’t for climbing, it supports rings, a pull-up bar, parallel bars and more. The structure is also surrounded by stations featuring box steps, parallettes, level and incline benches, a battle rope and sliding rotating push-up handles.
The property also has more standard amenities. The central courtyard has gas grills and lounging area, and the Resident’s Club has a fireplace, kitchen, coffee and juice bar, flat screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. There’s also a game room and business center, as well as a walking trail. Belvoir Square’s sustainable features include energy-efficient appliances, windows, lighting and climate control systems, and motion-sensor lights in common areas.
