Mitsui Fudosan, ZOM Living Break Ground on MD Community
- Mar 04, 2019
A joint venture of Mitsui Fudosan American and ZOM Living have broken ground on Maizon Bethesda, a transit-oriented community in a walkable, urban area of Bethesda, Md.
The 229-unit community is located about 7 miles from downtown Washington, D.C. and two blocks from the Bethesda Metro Station. It is within walking distance from numerous dining, entertainment and retail options, as well as 14 million square feet of Class A office space.
Spanning the entire 7500 block of Arlington Road, the project will offer a mix of studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom units ranging in size from 500 to 1,800 square feet. Unit interiors will feature movable island, quartz countertops, Italian style cabinetry, wide plank flooring, private balconies or terraces in many units and a keyless entry system.
Resident amenities at Maizon Bethesda will be offered on the ground floor and on the roof level. The building lobby will offer concierge service, a café and lounge, fitness center and a mail room with a self-service package room. The building’s rooftop deck will feature an infinity pool, terrace with seating and grills and a conservatory lounge.
SK+I is heading up design and architectural services at the project while Balfour Beatty is the general contractor.
“We are thrilled to join forces with ZOM Living, as we expand our presence in the Washington metropolitan area,” said Julius Goldman, director of acquisitions at Mitsui Fudosan America, in prepared remarks. “Bethesda is a vibrant city with an expanding workforce and we look forward to creating a state-of-the-art development, which will have a variety of benefits for the community.”
Last year, in a joint venture with EastBank, Mitsui Fudosan secured $96 million in financing for the development of an apartment community in Washington, D.C.
