Milestone Transit-Oriented Project Takes Off in College Park
- Jul 16, 2015
A $35 million mixed-use development is gaining altitude near the College Park MARTA Station and Hotel Indigo. ThePad on Harvard broke ground recently for its first residential phase that will include 109 deluxe apartment units. Located at 1777 Harvard Ave., just 400 feet from the open-cut rail station, the 3.5-acre site is on the block encompassed by Harvard Ave. and Princeton Ave. and Washington St.
The project is the first development of its kind since the formation of the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance in March 2014 and the first multifamily project built in College Park in 40 years. It is designed in concordance with MARTA’s transit-oriented development concept, which is defined as “vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, and genuinely integrated with transit.”
Speakers at the groundbreaking event included Joseph Folz, chairman of the Atlanta Aerotropolis Alliance; College Park City Councilman Tracey Wyatt; Hartsfield Jackson Airport Deputy General Manager Michael Smith; Rod Mullice and Romel Canete of Air Realty Partners; and Jerome Russell, President of HJ Russell & Company and a partner in the project.
Phase II of the development will add 75,000 square feet of commercial space including offices and retail.
