MedStar Health announced last week it has signed a long-term lease agreement with Beacon Capital Partners LLC and is getting ready to start work on a new ambulatory care campus at Lafayette Centre in northwest Washington, D.C.  The cost of the project is $26 million.

The new, 112,000-square-foot campus will offer numerous services, including men’s and women’s health, primary and preventive care, heart and vascular care, orthopedics and sports medicine, rehabilitation, same-day surgery and laboratory services. The new facility will also feature a 533-car garage.

MedStar will lease 20,000 square feet of space in Building 1, located on 20th Street. This location will be redeveloped into a sports medicine center. MedStar will also occupy 92,000 square feet of space in Building 2, which will be renamed the MedStar Health Building. It will have six floors of offices and clinical treatment areas, as well as a lobby off 21st Street. The MedStar Health Building will also be the new home of the MedStar Surgery Center.

Construction is expected to start this summer, with plans to open the center in mid-2016. DTZ, the global commercial real estate services firm that recently acquired Cassidy Turley, has been hired to manage the renovation for Beacon Capital.
