Mac-Gray Unveils Laundry Payment of the Future
- Feb 08, 2011
Waltham, Mass.—Mac-Gray Coporation has introduced a digital payment and monitoring system for multifamily laundry facilities called Change Point®. The product is designed specifically for use in central laundry rooms, and is billed as a significant advancement over the coin-only and laundry-card payment systems in most laundry rooms.
Change Point® uses the internet to connect to washers and dryers, giving residents the ability to pay for each cycle with a debit card, credit card or coin. Not only do you not have to worry about losing a laundry card, but Change Point® utilizes a Mac-Gray laundry monitoring system called LaundryView® that takes out a lot of the inherent hassle. This combination of features allows residents to check if there are washing or dryers available without ever leaving their apartment. You can even receive a text message when your clothes are dry. The system also lets property owners track service and revenue records. A machine will automatically dispatch a technician if it breaks down.
“ChangePoint® brings an unprecedented level of transparency to the management of laundry facilities,” says Stewart G. MacDonald, Mac-Gray’s chief executive officer. “This is good for the clients we serve, good for their residents, and good for our company. Property managers no longer have to wonder how much revenue is passing through their laundry rooms; residents no longer need to hoard quarters or store money on a card.”
There are two configurations of the ChangePoint® system. One lets residents pay at a wall-mounted laundry center that communicates with the machines. The other allows users to pay directly at the machine. The system has already undergone comprehensive testing in laundry facilities managed by Mac-Gray. Locations include properties operated by companies such as Archstone, Camden Property Trust and Equity Residential.
