Luma Breaks Ground In West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, Fla.—Luma at West Palm Beach, a luxury rental community, has broken ground in this south Florida city. Developed by Charles Scardina, the community will offer one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment homes featuring a broad range of resort-caliber amenities and features. Luma at West Palm Beach will launch its leasing program next spring and move-ins are scheduled to start n mid-2017.
To be constructed at Okeechobee Boulevard and Skees Road, just west of Florida’s Turnpike, Luma at West Palm Beach will deliver 245 apartments, a sprawling 5,500-square-foot clubhouse, a state-of-the-art fitness center, yoga and dance studio, resort-style pool with cabanas, outdoor lounge featuring a trellis and barbecue grills, tot lot and dog park..
Apartments will offer full-size washer-dryers, stainless steel appliance packages, granite countertops and plank flooring. Units will incorporate energy-efficient appliances and windows as well as water-conserving fixtures. Each four-story building will incorporate elevators
“I’m really happy to be here to do the groundbreaking for Luma of West Palm Beach, a new rental community in our city,” said Mayor Jen Muoio at the event. “I’ve seen the plans and it’s going to be a great place to live, with a lot of amenities and conveniences for people and we’re really happy to have it in our city.”
Along with Muoio and Scardina, those attending the event included City Commissioner Keith James; Bonnie Smetzer, executive vice president with JMG Realty; Harvey Oyer, a partner with the law firm of Shutts & Bowen, Terry Farina, representing Florida Community Bank; Steve Napier of Elev8 Construction, the project’s general contractor; and Steve Pickett and Lauren McClellan of JMorton Planning & Landscape Architecture.
The site is located near many attractions, including Okeeheelee Golf Course, Okeeheelee Park, Banyan Golf Club, Trump International Golf Club, Mounts Botanical Garden and Keiser University.
“Today, we are just breaking ground, but next year there will be a beautiful, perfectly appointed welcoming community here with all the conveniences of modern life,” Scardina said. “We are thrilled to get this project going with the support of the City of West Palm Beach, and are looking forward to providing an exceptional new community for local residents to call home.”
