Learn, Network and Have Fun… in Las Vegas
- Jan 29, 2019
NAHB’s International Builders’ Show, Feb. 19-21, offers multifamily attenders more than just a huge convention center floor full of every building product imaginable. Attendees also can check out a full schedule of multifamily educational offerings, and drop in to the Multifamily Central Headquarters—N522—for a breakfast nosh, or lunch, or an end-of-the-day reception with beverages and hors d’oeuvres.
Informal education sessions in the Central can bring you up to speed on multifamily code changes, including details on the newly approved tall wood construction provision. You can hear about earning revenue from short-term rentals and learn why most buildings certified under the National Green Building Standard are multifamily communities. (Spoiler: it’s easier and less expensive to use than LEED.) Experts who repurpose historic buildings will explain how they do it—profitably. And there will be a session on workforce housing—what it is, and why multifamily developers can produce it.
Best of all, NAHB Multifamily members will have scoured the show floor for the best new multifamily-friendly products and will condense that into a 30-minute presentation of their 30 favorites —saving you time and shoe leather when you head for the expo floor.
More formal education for full registrants includes information on Federal Home Loan Bank funding, information on how multifamily companies are using modular construction, a strategy for amenities, a way to spot trends, a multifamily economic Market Outlook, and multifamily design for a multi-generational market.
And for those who want to be among the first to hear about the winning communities in the 2018 NAHB Multifamily Pillars of the Industry Awards, register to attend the awards presentation luncheon event at the Westgate hotel on Feb. 19, noon-2:00 p.m.
But what about fun? Well, it is Las Vegas. But NAHB’s is also celebrating its 75th anniversary with an opening ceremony featuring Dana Carvey, open to all registered attendees, and a ticketed closing event with the Goo Goo Dolls performing at the Westgate Paradise Event Center. And the Young Professionals group (yes, they really do have more fun) will host a ticketed party just for young pro members at the Bellagio on Feb. 20, from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m.
