Larken Associates Buys Pennsylvania Apartment Community

Real estate construction, development and management company Larken Associates has acquired The View at Mackenzi, an apartment community in York, Pa. Situated at 2035 Patriot St., the two-story garden-style property was built in 2006. It features 224 two-story units, which range in size from 1,008 to 1,200 square feet and offer one. one and a half or two bathrooms.
Apartment features and finishes include in-unit washers and dryers, oak cabinetry, air conditioning and built-in microwave ovens. Select units feature eat-in kitchens with breakfast bars. A fitness center is among the more prominent common-area amenities.
Larken Associates earlier acquired another apartment community in York. The Reserve at Copper Chase, a 132-unit apartment and townhome community at 3145 Honey Run Drive, is situated less than 10 miles from The View at Mackenzi. It was one of several Keystone State acquisition deals that have made news this year.
York County is known as one of Pennsylvania’s major manufacturing centers. The region is home to a number of major employers, including Johnson Controls, BAE Systems, Voith Hydro, Snyder’s Lance, Harley-Davison and Utz Quality Foods. More recently, the county has reimagined itself as a regional hub of culture, entertainment, dining and shopping.
The View at Mackenzi is served by two elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The rental community is a 19-minute drive from York College of Pennsylvania and a 28-minute drive from YTI Career Institute. Nixon Park Nature Center is a 15-minute distance. Two military bases and Harrisburg International Airport are within an hour’s drive.
The acquisition of The View at Mackenzi adds to the acquirer’s Larken Living portfolio of properties. These assets number 22 distinct owned and/or managed communities, made up of more than 2,000 living units. Within the next few months, Larken plans to announce several large new residential projects in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
