Conshohocken, Pa.—Home Properties Inc., a publically traded REIT with properties in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets, announced that ground has been broken on The Courts at Spring Mill Station in Whitemarsh Township, Conshohocken, Pa.

The community will include two buildings. It will feature studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments, for a total of 385 luxury apartments. Additionally, the nearby 18th century Miller’s House at Spring Mill is being renovated as part of this project and will include retail and/or office space.

Amenities for The Courts at Spring Mill Station will include a fitness center with a yoga studio, swimming pool, indoor half-court for basketball and volleyball and a WiFi café with computers and a coffee bar.

The community is also being designed with some green elements in mind. Home Properties is planning to achieve LEED Certification for the community. The Courts at Spring Mill Station will also feature Energy Star appliances, energy-efficient HVAC systems and windows and lower flow toilets and faucets.

One benefit of The Courts at Spring Mill Station is its convenient location. The community is adjacent to the SEPTA Spring Mills Station, which provides direct access to Center City, Philadelphia and the Greater Philadelphia area. Additionally, the community is located near the Schuylkill River Trail, a 130-mile, multi-use trail that runs from Valley Forge to Center City.

“Home Properties is excited about adding this new property to our other 18 apartment communities in the Philadelphia region,” Kerri Haltom, Home Properties’ regional vice president, Philadelphia Region, said in a press statement. “We are also pleased to be able to offer residents at The Courts at Spring Mill Station greener lifestyle choices including the option to go totally car-free with SEPTA outside their front door. Easy access to public transportation, combined with the many environmentally friendly building practices Home Properties is incorporating, makes a greener lifestyle attainable.”

The building is expected to be completed in early 2014.
