Economy Watch Weekly: Interest Rates Rise While Retail Sales Dip

The Federal Reserve’s unanimous decision to raise interest rates last week seems to indicate its optimistic outlook for the U.S. economy and the ability to handle more expensive real estate financing. But some sectors of the real estate industry are not performing as well as others. Retail sales dropped 0.3 percent in May, posting the weakest monthly report in more than a year and a half.
