Detroit-Area Senior Community Undergoes $1M Renovation
- Mar 07, 2019
Singh Development has finished an eight-month, $1 million renovation project on Waltonwood Lakeside, a 2007-built senior living community located at 14750 Lakeside Circle in Sterling Heights, Mich.
“As we continue to build new projects and learn from our growing portfolio and years of experience, we want to apply our new lessons, knowledge and expertise to our existing portfolio,” Kathryn Pytiak, Singh Development’s project design manager, told Multi-Housing News. “Also, since the community was completed in 2007, we wanted to refresh the interiors to bring a more current and comfortable aesthetic into our residents’ home, as well as incorporate industry trends and update fixtures to be more environmentally friendly.”
The senior living community boasts a fitness center and numerous services and amenities designed to make life easier for seniors, including a movie theater, craft center, barber and beauty salon and computer work station.
Waltonwood Lakeside underwent a complete overhaul of the common area and amenity spaces, with more than 60,000 square feet of space renovated.
The renovations included a complete interior overhaul, from flooring to wallcovering and paint to tile and cabinetry, countertops, appliances, furniture, drapery, accessories and artwork, to a new wayfinding signage package to make navigating the building easier and safer.
“We fully revamped the community’s café to add a new dining venue and style for the residents to include a fast-casual culinary experience. Light fixtures were retrofitted to LED to save electricity and be more environmentally friendly,” Pytiak said.
Additionally, the company re-designed and replaced the community’s monument wall and exterior wayfinding signage to make navigating the outside of the building easy for residents and guests as well.
“A landscape refresh is also planned for this coming summer to round out the community’s renovations,” Pytiak added.
Waltonwood Lakeside is surrounded by great shopping, restaurants and health care options, as well as in close proximity to major highways to easily get to other southeast Detroit destinations. It also overlooks a lake and is close to Lake St Clair. Residents have a variety of local amenities to choose from, in addition to the ones in within their own home.
Last November, two Michigan multifamily properties owned by Singh Development received nearly $47 million in Fannie Mae financing.
