DC-Area Luxury Tower Tops Out

Gallery Bethesda II rises 17 stories and will provide 240,000 square feet of luxury apartments and ground-floor retail. The project was designed according to LEED Gold requirements.

Gallery Bethesda II, a luxury high-rise residential community located in Bethesda, Md., has topped out. The 240,000-square-foot, 17-story tower includes 219 residential units and three levels of underground parking. The project provides a range of studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments and 12,425 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

The property, developed by Donohoe Development Co., is located north of Washington, D.C., in downtown Bethesda, at 4850 Rugby Ave., adjacent to phase one of the development, Gallery Bethesda. The Battery Land Urban Park is just across the street, giving residents access to various retail, entertainment and leisure amenities in the Woodmont Triangle.

Apartments at Gallery Bethesda II will include:

  • culinary kitchens with GE ENERGY STAR appliances
  • kitchen islands with recessed LED lighting
  • floor-to-ceiling windows
  • customizable walk-in closets
  • keyless apartment entry
  • programmable thermostatic controls
  • penthouse homes

The building will also include a rooftop pool, outdoor kitchen, indoor sky lounge and a sports-club style fitness center. The project is aiming for LEED Gold certification.

Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2018. WDG, who was also in charge of the design of a recently financed rental apartment building in downtown Washington, D.C., was the architect.
