Corvias Group Announces New Head of Student Housing Division

Corvias Group, a privately owned, vertically integrated real estate solutions group, announced that Kurt Ehlers has been appointed managing director of the company’s new student housing division, Corvias Campus Living.

East Greenwich, R.I.—Corvias Group, a privately owned, vertically integrated real estate solutions group, announced that Kurt Ehlers has been appointed managing director of the company’s new student housing division, Corvias Campus Living.

Ehlers previously served as executive vice president of the company’s military housing division, Picerne Military Housing, overseeing all Air Force programs as well as managing housing programs at Fort Bragg, N.C., and Fort Rucker, Ala.

Ehlers’s appointment follows last month’s announcement by Picerne Military Housing, a pioneer and leader in the privatization, construction and management of U.S. military housing, to expand into the student housing market with the launch of a new parent company, Corvias Group, and a new student housing division, Corvias Campus Living.  Faced with dwindling endowments and rising infrastructure costs, many colleges and universities have not been able to keep up with either the deferred maintenance or the modernization needs of their student residences.

As executive vice president of Picerne Military Housing overseeing Fort Bragg and Fort Rucker, Ehlers managed more than 7,900 homes, the construction of 2,848 new homes and the renovation of 3,239 homes with a total development budget in excess of $500 million. Ehlers played an integral role in the revitalization of Fort Bragg, the third largest installation in the United States, which has resulted in dramatic improvements in the quality of life of those living on this installation. At Fort Bragg alone, Ehlers managed more than nine million square feet of housing. Prior to joining Picerne Military Housing in 2002, Ehlers worked for two of the nation’s largest multifamily developers and was responsible for the construction, development and management of projects across the United States.

In his new role, Ehlers will be responsible for the construction, property management and staffing operations of Corvias Campus Living, which delivers innovative, holistic approaches to the financing, management, and construction of on-campus housing for higher education clients.

Ehlers holds a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University and lives in Pinehurst, N.C., with his wife and two children.
