Centex Develops Housing Community in Parkside
- Jun 09, 2011
Dallas-based Centex, part of the Pulte family of homebuilding brands, is staying consistent with its tradition of targeting first-time buyers with its new 208-home community.
To be called Parkside, the community will be located at Airport Road and Highway 288. Homes will range in size from 1,200 to 2,550 square feet and feature three to four bedrooms, two to two-and-a-half bathrooms and attached garages. Pricing will start in the mid-$90,000s. Parkside floor plans are to include single- and two-story homes, master up and master downs, game rooms and media rooms.
Conveniently located close to the Medical Center, Downtown, Reliant Stadium, the George R. Brown Convention Center, Hobby Airport and the University of Houston, the community will also be neighboring on the future Houston Amateur Sports Park. Centex Houston operation vice president of sales Scott Sim is confident that the property’s accessibility to employment, recreation and transportation will attract renters to make the switch to homeownership, especially Gen Xers and Gen Yers. An added incentive is the vacancy rate for Class A apartments in the Parkside area, as it stands as high as 95 percent.
In other real estate news, Buchanan Street Partners acquired buildings 3 and 4 of Beltway 8 Corporate Centre for a reported $26.2 million. The 10900 Corporate Centre and 4920 Westway Park buildings total 261,500 square feet of office space, with tenants such as Allstate Insurance Corp., Cameron International Corp. and Mercer Consulting. Constructed in 2006 and 2007 by Panattoni Development, the buildings were conceived as part of the 150-acre Westway Park master-planned business community developed by Wolff Cross. The facilities are currently 76 percent leased.
