Melbourne, Australia—Global contractor Brookfield Multiplex has completed the third stage of Far East Consortium‘s Upper West Side, one of the largest residential projects currently under development in Melbourne’s CBD.
Called “Tower 4,” the 30-story high-rise will offer a total of 282 apartments above a podium comprising retail space and parking for 67 vehicles. The building covers nearly half a city block in a prominent location at the corner of Little Bourke Street, Lonsdale Street, Spencer Street and Rose Alley.
Designed by Cottee Parker Architects, the new tower features a façade constructed as moving artwork, with a changing appearance that reflects the surrounding environment.
“We are proud to deliver the third building of this exciting project. The magnitude of Upper West Side will completely transform the apartment offering in the CBD, it is unlike anything in Melbourne. Works are now underway to deliver the final stage of the development,” Graham Cottam, regional managing director of Brookfield Multiplex Victoria said.
Upper West Side ranks as one of the largest inner city developments in Australia with 2207 apartments across four towers, 30 retail outlets and a project value of approximately $971 million ($1.4 billion AUD).
The project’s final stage, a 53-level tower with 641 apartments, is currently construction with completion expected during the second half of 2016.
