BRE Properties Appoints SVP and Four VPs

San Francisco–BRE Properties Inc. has appointed a senior vice president and four vice presidents. Deborah Jones (pictured) has been promoted from vice president to senior vice president of associate relations and development. Marco M. Vakili has been chosen for the post of vice president of development in Southern California, Tami Busse has been made vice president of internal audit, and Jason Crichfield, who used to be assistant controller, will now be vice president of finance. Ex-director Debra Van Cleve is now the vice president of associate learning and development. Jones joined BRE in 2005 as vice president, associate relations and development, responsible for human resources, benefits, recruitment, training, payroll and HR information systems. She has more than 20 years experience in human resources and all related functions. Prior to her present position, she served as vice president, human resources for The Irvine Apartment Communities in Irvine, Calif. for five years, and as BRE’s vice president of human resources for four years.Vakili is responsible for land acquisition, entitlement and development of multifamily projects in Southern California, where BRE has an estimated $854 million pipeline of eight properties with approximately 2,300 units.Busse will develop and execute BRE’s annual audit plan based on an assessment of the company’s business, financial and information technology risks.Crichfield will be managing the company’s external financial reporting, and assisting with strategic planning and execution.Van Cleve will oversee the training programs for more than 850 BRE associates as well as online and computer-based learning systems and courseware, the development of training materials and workshops, and associate recognition programs.
