Memphis, Tenn.—EdR, an owner, developer and manager of nationwide collegiate housing, will develop, build and manage Boise State University’s Honors College and freshman housing on the university‘s campus in Boise, Idaho. Construction of the development will commence this year, and is slated for completion in July 2017.

Housed in a four-story building in the heart of campus will be a 305-bed Honors College and a 351-bed freshman living-learning community. A dining component will also be included in the structure. EdR will own the residence hall and manage the facility under the provisions of a 50-year lease with Boise State.  The university will provide residence life services.

The $39.7 million housing development will be completed by EdR through its On-Campus Equity Plan, better known as The ONE Plan. This initiative utilizes the company’s equity and financial stability to finance projects on university property. It also creates significant long-term financial benefits for Boise State University and EdR.

A competitive process led to the November 2014 selection of EdR by Boise State University to execute the design, construction, financing and management of the development. LCA Architects of Boise will lead the project’s design team, which includes Ayers Saint Gross of Phoenix, Ariz. Rimrock Construction, of Draper, Utah, has been selected as general contractor.

Boise State has witnessed a 30 percent increase in enrollment since 2002, bringing the current enrollment figure to 22,000 undergraduate, masters and doctoral students.

“Our new Honors College home reflects the commitment Boise State is making to the highest academic quality and will accommodate the fast-growing number of academically accomplished and talented students in the college,” Boise State President Bob Kustra said.

Tom Trubiana, EdR president added, “The ongoing transformation at Boise State University is impressive. We are excited to partner with Boise State leadership to create unique living-learning accommodations which will complement this dynamic campus.”
