BGC Advantage Welcomes Development VP

The former CEO of Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority brings more than 20 years of industry experience to her new role.

BGC Advantage has hired Demetria Simpson as vice president of development. Simpson joins the company from Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority, where she served as president and CEO. In her new role, she will oversee all aspects of project development, including due diligence, land closings, permitting, grant writing, RFP submissions and construction administration.  

Simpson has 23 years of housing and development experience. Her expertise covers RAD, low-income housing tax credits and other affordable housing programs and initiatives, such as the Federal Home Loan Banks program and Community Development Block Grant program.

Prior to her 5-year tenure with LMHA, Simpson served as executive director at R3SM, leading the affordable housing redevelopment efforts on the Mississippi Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina. In other previous roles, she was president of South MS Housing and Development Corp. and director of housing and community development with Hagerty Consulting.

Simpson holds a Bachelor of Science in community and regional planning from the University of Southern Mississippi and an executive education certification from John F. Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University.
