PN Hoffman & Associates Inc. has selected Balfour Beatty’s Washington division to construct a new condominium building on the St. Augustine’s Church site in Washington, D.C.’s Southwest Waterfront neighborhood. The $30 million Wharf Parcel 11B – 625 Water Street at Waterfront Park project represents the first collaboration between the two companies.
PN Hoffman announced its plans to redevelop the St. Augustine’s Church site at the start of July. However, at that time it did not disclose the cost of the project, the date of the groundbreaking or the name of the company selected to construct the new building.
Balfour Beatty will break ground later this month on the five-story, 105,000-square-foot building. It will have 108 condo residences, an entrance lobby, a landscaped courtyard, a club room, a private rooftop and a courtyard, as well as below-grade parking with space for 94 vehicles. SK&I Architectural Design Group was the project’s architect. The developers hope to complete the new building in January 2016. Condo sales are scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2015.
“We feel privileged to build a world-class building for such a prestigious client,” David Laib, senior vice president of Balfour Beatty Construction, said in a statement for the press. “It is our hope that The Wharf Parcel 11B is the first of many opportunities to work with PN Hoffman.”
625 Water St. is part of the new $1.5 billion Southwest Waterfront mixed-use project developed by Hoffman Madison Waterfront LLC, a joint venture between PN Hoffman & Associates and Madison Marquette. When complete, it will deliver 560 residential units, 600 hotel rooms, 840,000 square feet of office space, 335,000 square feet of retail space, 2,500 parking spaces, 400 to 500 marina slips, a music hall and a museum.
