A groundbreaking ceremony held on Feb. 16 marked the construction start of Evergreen Cottages, an assisted living memory care community in Katy.

The community, located at 21715 Bridgewater Village Drive—near the intersection of Mason and Clay—is specifically designed to provide residential memory care for those with Alzheimer’s or other related dementia. The monthly flat rates are to include services such as licensed nurses with special expertise in Alzheimer’s and dementia care available 24 hours a day, on-site specially trained Alzheimer and dementia caregivers, individualized care plans, assistance with all daily living activities, visiting physicians and healthcare professionals – all within a safe and secure environment.

“Our philosophy is simple,” said Bill Browning, who leads the management team. “We’re creating an environment that nourishes all involved at every level – our residents, their families and our caregivers. How we do this is unique: We provide loving care by specially trained nurses and caregivers in a community that’s large enough to utilize the latest in dementia care research and technology and yet small enough to give you the comforts of home in a personal, intimate setting.”

The community, expected to be completed in July 2012, is being developed by a team of professionals experienced in both health care management and hospitality. An Evergreen Cottages Web site is already up and running.
