AMLI Management Appoints New President & CEO

Chicago—AMLI Residential has announced the promotion of Maria Banks to president & CEO of AMLI Management Co., a Chicago-based company specializing in property management and leasing services for a portfolio of luxury apartment communities across the U.S. She will replace Steve Hallsey, who is leaving AMLI after serving as president & CEO for 13 years.

Banks has been with AMLI for more than a decade, holding various leadership positions. Most recently, she was in charge of managing the company’s information technology, marketing and education functions, and was responsible for risk management and strategic technology planning. In the past, she has provided guidance on internal policies and procedures in order to improve efficiencies and ensure an effectively controlled environment. She managed and served as a key liaison on various company-wide special projects and IT initiatives, and was responsible for creating the company’s internal audit department, managing contract negotiations with key vendors, leading digital marketing efforts, as well as being part of the AMLI Financial Leadership Group and the IT Steering Committee.

Prior to joining AMLI in 2005, Banks worked as manager for Deloitte, internal audit manager for SBC Communications and audit senior for Arthur Andersen. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Illinois.
