  • San Diego State Starts $53M Makeover of Residence Hall

    San Diego State University’s Zura residence hall renovation project has officially begun as Balfour Beatty Construction is handling the process on behalf of the organization. The process is essentially a $53 million investment aiming to upgrade and improve student housing facilities at the site. Financing for the project was sourced through California State University System wide Revenue Bond program, and housing reserves. Completion for the Zura hall renovation project is set for the summer of next year.

    One of the best-known office buildings in downtown San Diego was recently acquired by a partnership of BBL Commercial Real Estate of San Diego and Westbrook Partners. The buyer shelled out $39.25 million for the Fifth Avenue Financial Center. The two parties involved in the acquisition each represented themselves and all leasing activity at the building will henceforth be handled by real estate brokerage Cassidy Turley.

SCCD has selected Sundt Construction to carry out the construction process at the college’s Higher Education Center located in San Diego’s National City. Sundt was named Construction Manager at Risk for the new science building project in which the school will be investing around $15.3 million.
