Jersey City, N.J.—Fields Development Group announced that Madox, a 131-unit luxury building in Jersey City, N.J., has just been certified LEED Silver.
Madox, which is known as a green building, has other environmentally friendly features as well.
“Located on a .788- acre site that formerly housed the industrial warehouse for manufacturer Belfuse, the seven-story Madox rental complex is a sterling example of land reuse, transforming a once public eye-sore into a beautiful new mixed-use building with upscale homes and ground-floor retail space,” James Caulfield, Jr., principal, Fields Development Group, tells MHN. “The environmentally conscience approach we took to create Madox included a Brownfield cleanup and redevelopment program that extends beyond traditional practices and will significantly reduce the carbon footprint. The building itself was carefully constructed in accordance with the U.S. Green Building Council guidelines to ensure it provides residents and neighbors an environmentally sensitive urban living environment.”
The community features one- and two-bedroom units. The rooftop deck includes a large outdoor recreation area for residents, and also controls storm water runoff and generates renewable power with PV Solar Array panels and green roof vegetation.
Madox also features electric car charging stations and building systems to reduce water consumption by more than 45 percent and energy consumption by 14 percent.
Additional amenities include a keyless entry system, 24-hour doorman, gym, lobby lounge with a library, business center, communal technology table and a lounge with children’s area, kitchenette and TVs.
The community is located near transportation such as the PATH, Light Rail, NJ Transit Buses and NY Waterway Ferry.
