A new hotel is scheduled to open on October 5 in San Antonio. Hotel Emma, dubbed the heart of Pearl, is a 146-key property built inside the former brewery complex. When completed, it will include a bar, restaurant, market, and library.

The brewery was originally designed by Chicago architect August Maritzen in 1894 in the Second Empire style, and the redevelopment will retain many historical features.

The renovation and adaptive reuse started under the ownership of Silver Ventures, which selected Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants to manage it back in February 2013. Yet, in December 2014, Kimpton was acquired by InterContinental Hotels Group for $430 million, reports the San Antonio Business Journal.

Hotel Emma sits on the banks of the Northern Reach of the San Antonio River at 136 E. Grayson St., next door to the Culinary Institute of America. General manager Mark Yanke said the hotel needs to finish the hiring process by late August and that there are positions available for all areas including housekeeping, concierge, food, and beverage.
