By Amalia Otet, Associate Editor

Choice Hotels International and O’Reilly Hospitality Management L.L.C. recently broke ground on a new hotel in the heart of the Legacy office and retail district. The 129-key Cambria Suites Plano is the first of two Cambria Suites hotels O’Reilly Hospitality Management plans to build this year. The second property will be developed in the master-planned community of Desert Ridge in Phoenix.

The hotel aims to provide first-class accommodations for business and leisure travelers. Plano is home to some of the best-rated employers in the country, including Alliance Data, Cinemark Theatres, Dell Services, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Ericsson, Frito-Lay, HP Enterprise Services, Huawei, J.C. Penney, Pizza Hut, Rent-A-Center, Traxxas and Siemens PLM Software. Its population was estimated to be 272,068 in 2012, an increase of 4.7 percent since the 2010 Census, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Designed as a lifestyle hotel brand, the four-story, 84,000-square-foot property will feature larger-than-average guest suites with separate work and sleep areas. Each suite will be equipped with the latest technology, including two flat-screen LCD televisions and MediaHub™ plug-and-play stations, which will allow guests to connect their laptop, MP3 player, game console, digital camera or CD/DVD player hassle free. Free high-speed wired and wireless Internet access will be available throughout the complex.

Among several upscale amenities, the facility will offer 2,400 square feet of meeting space, a spacious lobby and artwork from local Plano artists.

Additionally, the hotel will house Reflect, a casual dining and gathering area; a barista bar featuring Wolfgang Puck® coffee and a hot breakfast buffet; Refresh, a state-of-the-art fitness center with an elegant pool and hot tub/spa area; and Refill, a 24-7 convenience store that offers energy drinks, snacks and sundries.
