Ziegler Cooper Designs Luxury High-Rise Living in Houston
Published: December 10, 2007

Kirby

By Matthew Marin, Associate Editor

Houston—Ziegler Cooper Architects has designed a new high-rise condominium that is poised to become the visual focal point of the prestigious Upper Kirby/River Oaks area of Houston. The tower itself is fashioned as an elegant 21st century building crafted in glass, stainless steel and stone and sits on a narrow lot that is less than an acre in size.

The 96-unit, 30-story building, called 2727 Kirby at River Oaks, will have one-, two- and three-bedroom condos priced from $500,000 to $7 million. Each floor will have an average of five units ranging in size from 1,250 square feet to 6,100 square feet. The units are divided into residences and estates--with estate owners having an elevator that drops them off into their unit. Each residence will enjoy 12-ft. ceilings, fireplaces and a private terrace equipped with an outdoor kitchen.

"Ziegler Cooper Architects design was inspired by their client, Mike Atlas, and his vision to build an astonishingly beautiful residential building at this prestigious River Oaks address," Scott Ziegler, founding principal of the firm, tells MHN. "The tower engages its vibrant Upper Kirby address with a slightly forward leaning gesture to the street."

Ziegler Cooper provided the design of lively fountains to greet residents and guests as they drive up to the building's glass entry. Twenty-four hour valet is available, in addition to, private parking in a six-level garage, where atop sits the Aqua Level--an extension of the resident’s living room, providing 30,000 square feet of comprehensive entertainment, fitness, pool and spa facilities for family and guests to enjoy.

The west side of the Aqua Level, which is approximately 90 feet above street level, features the Sunset Lounge--a beautiful formal entertaining area for dinner parties of up to 50. The Sunset Lounge features an elegant dining room, a full catering kitchen, a private, climate-controlled wine storage room and a soaring “urban” window with gorgeous views westward toward the Galleria/Post Oak area.

Looking out onto the pool, the eastward facing Aqua Lounge offers a more casual feel and features billiard tables and a sophisticated, contemporary bar. Just outside the Aqua Lounge, the elegant infinity pool is surrounded by private cabanas, towering palm trees, a private hot tub and outdoor fireplaces for residents and guests to enjoy views of the Houston skyline before heading their home in the sky.

On the south side of the Aqua Level, next to the library and media room, is a custom-designed putting green from which you can look down on 2727 Kirby's private gardens where guests can grow their own vegetables and herbs, if they wish.

This work of art's interior spaces will be as luxurious as its exterior is stunning. The lobby features warm, wood-paneled walls and suspended from the ceiling is a magnificent contemporary glass sculpture. Residents can personalize their units by choosing interior elements from a selection of fine grade materials, amenities and finishes to suit their taste and style perfectly.

Luxury features including private terraces, soaring ceilings, imported stone flooring and European cabinetry are standard. 2727 Kirby offers residents extraordinary services and amenities that will set the standard for luxury and sophistication in Houston.
