Green Building Supplies Market to More Than Double by 2011
Published: November 05, 2007
New York -- The green building materials market will grow from almost $2.2 billion last year to $4.7 billion in 2011, according to a new report from industrial, construction, materials and consumer goods market researcher SBI.
The market saw a compound annual growth rate of 23 percent through 2006; its growth through 2011 is predicted to be at a slightly slower rate of 17 percent, EarthTimes.org reports.
The Green Building Materials in the U.S. report also said residential green construction is on the rise, giving a boost to types of materials, such as wood, not used as extensively in commercial construction.
As a result, SBI expects green flooring -- which was the slowest growing green building material segment through 2006 -- will shoot up to the fastest growing segment in the next few years, showing a compound annual growth rate of 45 percent.
