Multi-Housing Executives Update: NAREIT Appoints 2009 Officers, and Other Moves

Washington, D.C.--The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) has announced its 2009 officers, members of its executive committee and new members of its board of governors. Constance B. Moore, president and CEO of BRE Properties Inc. is the new chair.
“We approach 2009 in the midst of turbulence in our credit and equity markets,” Moore says. “At a time like this, active participation in policy and practice-oriented representative bodies like NAREIT becomes more important than ever. NAREIT is working hard to ensure that both investors and policymakers understand the value of REITs in the investment marketplace and the broader economy.”
NAREIT’s first vice chair for 2009 is Debra A. Cafaro, chairman, president and CEO of Ventas Inc. and its second vice chair is Bryce Blair, chairman and CEO of AvalonBay Communities Inc. Donald C. Wood, president and CEO of Federal Realty Investment Trust, is the treasurer.

Planned Cos. Hires Christy Metz as Regional Director of Sales for Delaware Valley
Parsippany, N.J.--Planned Cos. has recently hired Christy Metz (pictured) as regional director of sales for the Delaware Valley region.
Metz will be responsible for new business development in the Philadelphia, South Jersey and Delaware markets. Although this will be her primary focus, Christy's relationships with national real estate firms and professionals will allow Planned Cos. the ability for new areas of exposure throughout the entire northeast corridor.
Previously, Metz was vice president of MSB Resources LLC. Prior to that, Christy worked in property management operations with Wentworth Group of West Long Branch, N.J.
H.K. Field Joins SureDeposit as Midwest Regional Account Manager
Livingston, N.J. and Chicago--H.K. Field has been named Midwest regional account manager for SureDeposit.
Based out of SureDeposit’s Chicago office, Field will be responsible for providing regional sales support, as well as training new and current clients on SureDeposit’s marketing and risk management program throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
“Field brings more than three decades of customer service and account management experience to SureDeposit, having held positions both within the multifamily industry and with other service providers,” says SureDeposit President Richard Schreiber.
Field joins SureDeposit from First Advantage SafeRent Inc. where he served as a regional account manager. He is a member of the Chicagoland Apartment Association, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and the Minnesota Multi Housing Association.
