Live Near Office to Save Rent, Environment

Scottsdale, Ariz.--Mark-Taylor Residential, manager of 30 apartment communities in the greater Phoenix area, has rolled out its rent saving plan for new residents moving into one of its properties. New residents, who prove they will cut their commutes to the workplace by moving to a Mark-Taylor property, can receive discount of $1,000 for the lease term, which is 12 months or longer.

“These days you can’t pick up the newspaper or watch TV without hearing about going green, energy conservation, etc.,” Kim Atkinson, director of marketing and public relations for Mark-Taylor, tells MHN. “So many people are concerned about the environment and the cost to fill up their tank these days. This seemed like a good idea to offset these concerns as well as improve our occupancy.”

Most of Mark-Taylor’s properties, (pictured: San Palmilla in Tempe), are located near major employers and businesses in the Valley of the Sun. The average rents for one- to three-bedroom apartments at Mark-Taylor properties range from $800 to $1,400.

Mark-Taylor’s Web site calculates the distance a person currently drives to work and how many miles they might shave off that commute if they moved into a Mark-Taylor community closer to their workplace. In addition to the $1,000 discount, residents get an additional discount when they do all their leasing online.

Prospective residents need to bring a copy of their printed maps and proof of employment to a Mark-Taylor leasing office to confirm their new, shorter commute. The “Go Green, Save Green” program is only available to those who already live in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.

Mark-Taylor properties have green features including dual-pane glass with UV protection, energy-efficient appliances and usage of hydronic heat.
